If you noticed, I used the word "explanations" on purpose; I could have used the word "instructions" but the author explains why we do that and why we do not do that. Krav Maga is not about techniques. The book explains how to defend yourself in real situations instead of trying to make you improvise. Of course, you learn some techniques that are usable in real life situations, but in reality Krav Maga gives you the possibility to act out instinctively instead of thinking what was the technique you learnt when you have trained.
Training just helps you to develop your reaction of time and when you will have to deal with real life situations, you will just follow your mind and know what to do.
However, reading Boaz's book and watching DVD will help you achieve the result you want. And an important thing I have to mention is that the book or DVD are not a reworking of earlier stuff. They are unique and will surprise even those people who are squeamish.
