PURE KRAV MAGA – SELF DEFENSE MASTERY™ CURRICULUM/By Boaz Aviram, Founder


The Pure Krav Maga Curriculum is used to teach Principles to facilitate hands-on ability of students to respond to any Self - Defense and Hand-to-hand fighting scenario and prevail.  While a list of techniques is presented, it is not the exact application of these techniques that will enable the students to react promptly, but instead the installation of the approach to solve any problem in a prescribed order, of using prioritization and judgment through the in depth familiarity of the dangers that another human can pose.

Below is the list of the Pure Krav Maga Curriculum:

Other Hand Strikes Elbows and Knees (note that this session could be broken down and taught in portions thorough the grappling sessions, and the sparring sessions)

Restraining Techniques and Escapes
Principles of Sports Grappling and how to use counter response to them.  Principles of Pure Krav Maga Grappling, break-falls and rollovers, grappling on the ground Static response to close range holds with knife threat. Possibly add response to Pistol Threats once continuing students learn methods of pistol threat defense in following sessions.

Knife attack Methods and Theories and Applications, Use of Kicks vs. Knife Threats
Use of a Knife vs. Knife Threats.

Use of blunt objects, and defense vs. Assault rifle threat with responding to the possibilities of opponent moving from a live fire threat to physical use of the rifle as a blunt object weapon.(Methods, theories and applications)
Defense vs. Pistol Threats

Other Methods of Kicking Attacks: Rear horizontal stomp kick, full turn rear horizontal defensive kick, Front round house kick, front defensive round house kick, rear vertical stomp kick, rear defensive kick, front heel chest kick, outside slap kick, inside slap kicks, front jump kick, side jump kick.

Sparring Training Methods and Application

Below is an example of how students master Principles and organize an appropriate structure that trigger an appropriate response to a hostile scenario or a threat.
During the Introduction students learn the key historical events and key logical indicators for the differentiation and advantage of Krav Maga for Self Defense.

During the Danger Analysis session, students learn to judge the tactical implications
Of being in a hostile scenario and how to avoid a more threatening scenario to occur, or timely response to it by realization that one should react now or may never have a chance again.

During the session of Reaction time, students will understand and learn to apply the principles of choosing the right timing for action which facilitate control of any possible threat.

During the session of Hand Strikes, students will learn to maximize their force of striking and produce non projected efficient attacks that could knockout their opponent in a single strike and yet teach them how to move on to the next attack if they missed the first.

During the session of Basic Kicks, students will learn to maximize their force of kicking and produce a non projected efficient attacks that could inflict a devastating blow to their opponent’s center body or knee in a single kick, and yet teach them how to move on to the next attack or defense if they missed the first.

During the sessions of learning defenses, students will learn to apply efficient response for kicks and hand strikes that will work all the times.
During the session of other hand strikes, students will learn to maximize their force in applying other hand strikes including elbows and knees and produce minimally projected efficient attacks that could inflict a devastating blow to their opponents.

During the session of learning escapes and grappling methods and other kicks, students will learn how to use any possible way of attack or restraining attempt and how to escape them and counter attack.  In addition students will get accustomed to the threats that are posed by an attacker that is accustomed in these attack methods and practice how to counter them and control their opponents.  Limited number of methods used by grappling sports counter techniques will be taught to show differentiation from the Pure Krav Maga methods of minimal use of escape from immediate danger facilitating convenient repositioning for effective counter attack, and counter with a blow, tear, or applying contortions to vital pressure points.  Student will learn how to fall, roll and react to attacks in various angles to gain confidence in handling threats in close range and with body positioning of out of balance.

During the Knife Use and Defense vs. Knife Threat sessions, students will learn principles of efficient non projecting attacks to promote deadly control on their opponent.
They will then learn how to stop deadly threats whether committed attacks or distracting attacks meant to break the line of any possible defense and to achieve the possibilities of deadly attacks.
During the sessions of Club/Blunt Object/ Assault Rifle with or without bayonets, students will learn how to use various blunt objects in efficient attack and defense methods.  They will learn of to efficiently prevent these threats and attacks.

During the sessions of Knife Sparring, students will incorporate all the methods, techniques, and spontaneously responding to a threat prioritizing and using principles and methods they learnt in specifically designed drills.

During the sessions of Pistol Threat defense students will learn to understand the reaction time principles and apply it to use in their training.  They will learn to efficiently neutralize various logical and empirical threats from selected various positions and distances which consist of the boundaries of each approach.

During the session of Multiple Threats, students will learn to respond to multiple opponents learning to prioritize and how to respond in the various ranges.  They will learn the almost simultaneous application of front punch with cross hand delivering a forward elbow followed with a punch to three opponents and escaping out of a center of a close range multiple attackers ring.  In addition, they will learn how to reposition themselves and create a desired chain of response, select most efficient methods of response in a dynamic drill with on the spot instructor’s corrections.

During the sessions of sparring, students will drill in programming the mind of the body to instinctively apply the prior principles of Pure Krav Maga learned with on the spot instructor corrections.

During the sessions of testing, Instructors will judge whether students are aware of and are able to sufficiently demonstrate their control of the application of using effective and efficient attack methods, and defense methods and put them all together in safe sparring methods, understanding the ramifications of application into realistic hand-to-hand combat and self defense scenarios.
